Forest Protection: A Tramontina Commitment

Forest Protection: A Tramontina Commitment

Protecting nature by using wood from legal and sustainable sources is one of Tramontina’s principal commitments in its production process. The company employs forest management techniques and utilizes reforested wood to ensure respectful production, which promotes fair and responsible commerce.

But what exactly do these terms mean?

Reforested wood is produced from tree plantations grown in previously deforested or degraded areas. This type of initiative helps to recover abandoned or endangered ecosystems. Wood from forest management is obtained through selective and controlled tree harvesting in native forests, with the objective of guaranteeing their regeneration and conservation.

Both methods are equally important for sustainable wood production, aiming for environmental conservation. Reforested wood prevents native forests from becoming threatened, while wood from forest management allows for a conscientious and responsible use of resources, conserving biodiversity and ecosystem services.

At this moment, when discussion about responsible management of natural resources is necessary, Tramontina is assuming environmental responsibility as one of its operational priorities. This is one of the pillars of the Transforma initiative – doing things beautifully, well, and correctly today to transform tomorrow.

Sustainable practices have been a reality at Tramontina since 1990, when Effluent Treatment Plants (ETEs) were implemented. In these plants, water used in the production process undergoes a series of treatments before being returned to the environment at a non-harmful quality level, or it is reutilized in industrial processes and daily activities. In some factories, the reuse rate reaches 100% – the goal of every unit.

In addition to factories, Tramontina has around 2.9 thousand hectares of forest preserves and maintains more than 3.3 thousand hectares of forests for use in production – a solid and renewable base that provides the wood used in factories.

Tramontina is proud to elevate your culinary experience, with our range of meticulously crafted cutting and serving boards. Made from sustainably sourced FSC-certified wood, each board embodies a commitment to both quality and environmental responsibility.
